Best Places To Visit In Slaskie Poland

Famous for the coal mines, beautiful castles, and delicious food, Silesian Province is definitely one fo the most interesting in the country. There are many amazing places to visit in Slaskie Poland- some of them are popular, some are still undiscovered by tourists coming from abroad.

Silesia Province is quite controversial- there are many people who claim that there is nothing to see there, only big cities with polluted air. They can’t be more wrong! With the monumental castles and interesting hiking trails, everyone will find something for themselves in Slaskie Poland.

The province is bordering with the most touristy region in the country- Malopolska (with Cracovia y Zakopane). It’s also located right next to Lodz Province, Opolskie Provincey Swietokrzyskie Province.

Cz?stochowa

It’s one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage site in Poland. Jasna Gora and the miraculous painting of the Black Madonna are attracting thousands of tourists every year.

Even if you are not a believer, it’s worth to visit Cz?stochowa and see how important the faith is for the Poles.

Ogrodzieniec Castle

One of the most beautiful castles in Poland, Ogrodzieniec is where the famous Netflix TV series, The Witcher, has been filmed.

The ruins of this medieval castle are located on the highest hill of Jura Krakowsko-Cz?stochowska.

It’s worth knowing that Ogrodzieniec Castle in Podzamcze is a part of the Trail of the Eagle’s Nests.

It’s a chain of 25 medieval castles located between Cz?stochowa and Krakow. Needless to say, the Trail is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Silesia Province!

Bledow Desert (Polish Sahara)

Polish Sahara is located within the two voivodeships: Slaskie and Malopolskie regions.

It’s really one of the most interesting places in Poland! You wouldn’t expect the actual desert in the middle of the European continent, would you?

What’s even more fascinating, at the beginning of the 20th century, you could still observe sandstorms and the mirage phenomenon on the Bledow Desert.

Unfortunately, the climate change, the rising water levels, and the human activity are making the desert slowly disappear. The southern part of Pustynia Bledowska is almost completely overgrown. Work is still underway to stop this process.

Bedzin Castle

This medieval castle is definitely one of the best places to visit in Slaskie Poland. Of course, it’s also a part of the Trail of the Eagle’s Nests.

Nowadays, you can find the interesting museum inside the castle (Muzeum Zag??bia) where you can learn about the history of Silesian Province.

Bobolice Castle

The last one of the top 3 most beautiful castles of Slaskie Poland.

Built in the 14th century, it’s one of the few palaces on the Trail of the Eagle’s Nests that you can see inside.

The interiors of Bobolice Castle are quite impressive, so be sure to take a tour around them!

Tyskie Brewery in Tychy

Why it’s worth to visit Brewery in Tyskie?

You will have a chance to learn how one of the most famous Polish beer brands is being produced.

Of course, adults will also be able to try different kinds of Tyskie beer!

Maybe Silesia Province should be called the beer capital of Poland?

At the end of the day, it’s where two top brands of Polish beers are being produced! The first one (Tyskie) is already mentioned before. The second one is Zywiec beer produced in Zywiec.

Go there to take a tour around Brewery and learn about the production process.

Beskid ?l?ski

It’s definitely the best place to visit in Slaskie Poland for nature lovers!

There are 5 towns in Beskid Slaski that you can’t miss:

  • Wis?a
  • Ustro?
  • Brenna
  • Istebna

They are starting points to many hiking trails. It’s also where you will find many interesting museums, the famous ski jump (in Wisla), and other amazing tourist attractions.

Museum of Lace in Koniakow

Koniakow is located in Beskid Slaski but we decided to make a separate paragraph about it. Why?

The laces are one of the most important export goods in Poland. All handmade, the laces from Koniakow are desired by every fashionista.

What’s interesting, in 2013 the craftswomen from Koniakow set the new Guinness World Record for making the biggest lacework on this planet!

Katowice

The capital of Slaskie Poland, Katowice is definitely the most vibrant place in the region!

One of the tourist attractions worth visiting is Katowicki Spodek, a multipurpose arena where there is always a lot going on. Spodek has a unique shape that resembles a UFO.

Be sure to visit Silesian Museum while in Katowice as well to get to know more about the province and its history!

Chorzów

When you ask a random Pole about Chorzow, an amusement park would probably be the first thing to pop into their heads first.

The park is called Legendia and it’s one of the best places to visit in Slaskie Poland for families traveling with kids!

There are many other interesting tourist attractions in Chorzow, including the Planetarium, the Zoo, and the Open Air Museum.

Pszczyna

Called the Pearl of Upper Silesia, Pszczyna is one of the best places to visit in Slaskie Poland.

With the beautiful old town and the breathtaking castle as the most famous tourist attractions, you won’t get bored in this lovely town!

Be sure to visit an Open Air Museum (Skansen Zagroda Wsi Pszczy?skiej) and The Bison Farm (Pokazowa Zagroda ?ubrów) as well while in Pszczyna.

Tarnowskie Gory Silver Mine

It’s the only UNESCO site in Slaskie Poland.

The historic silver mine in Tarnowskie Gory is open for the public and it’s definitely worth visiting!

Cieszyn

Cieszyn is a pretty unique city!

It’s divided between Poland and Czechia. Go there to take a walk around the old town, cross the border, and try some local food and beer.

Western City Twinpigs  in Zory

Last but not least- another amusement park on our list.

Western City Twinpigs is one of the best places to visit in Slaskie Poland with kids. Go there to have some fun and feel like a child again.
