Warsaw is the capital city of Poland, with over two million people living in it. Every year, nearly twenty million people visit the city for business and leisure. Warsaw is also well-communicated with other European cities through the international airport, making it a perfect weekend getaway. To meet the needs of all the visitors, Warsaw offers a wide diversity of attractions. And I am about to share with you the best things to do during a weekend in Warsaw.

Where To Stay In During Weekend In Warsaw?

If you are looking for a hotel that meets a high standard, options like Radisson Blu Sobieski, Intercontinental Warsaw, or Marriott would be the best choices.

However, if your priority is just to get a good night’s sleep and enjoy a delicious breakfast, you have a wide range of options available. That includes thousands of short-term rental apartments and good hotels (for example Holiday Inn) at reasonable prices.

On The Budget

If you’re on a budget, consider checking out hostels, motels, or student houses. You can find accommodations for as little as a few euros. Some of the recommended places are Safestay Hostel and Planet Hostel.

Keep in mind that if you’re planning your weekend stay during the peak season, it’s advisable to book in advance due to high demand.

Weekend in Warsaw – The Must-Visit Places

Once you have sorted out your accommodation, it’s time to plan your weekend activities. There are several must-see places in Warsaw that should be on your list.

The Royal Route – 1 hour

The Royal Route is quite long, but it’s best to start from de Gaulle roundabout (Rondo de Gaulle’a) and head towards Castle Square.

Along this 2 km stretch, you will find the Presidential Palace, the University of Warsaw gates, a beautiful Basilica of Holly Cross, and monuments of famous Polish artists, leaders, and scientists, such as Nicolaus Copernicus. Dominating Castle Square is the majestic Sigismund’s Column, a monument commemorating the Polish king.

The Royal Route is dotted with restaurants and patios, and you will also find numerous street artists there. Just across Castle Square, to the right, stretches a beautiful panorama of the Vistula River and the National Stadium.

The Royal Castle – 3 hours

The Royal Castle and its gardens are undoubtedly one of the greatest attractions of Warsaw. The castle frequently hosts various fascinating world-class exhibitions.

While there is an admission fee for touring the castle on weekends, you can admire the castle gardens for free. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore the beauty of this place and enjoy the view over the Vistula River valley.

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier – 30 minutes, at noon on Sunday

Every Sunday at 12 o’clock, a ceremonial changing of the guard takes place. If you want to witness this spectacle, plan your walk along the Royal Route on a Sunday. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is located just a few minutes away from the route, making it convenient to visit and pay your respects.

Łazienki Park – 2 Hours On Sunday Noon -Piano Concert

Łazienki Park, also known as the Royal Baths Park, is a must-see attraction in Warsaw. This park is home to the Palace on the Isle, surrounded by beautiful gardens, lakes, and stunning architecture.

Take a walk and admire the palace’s neoclassical splendor. Explore the charming pavilions and statues throughout the park, and look out for squirrels and peacocks. Every Sunday, during summer, at noon and at 4 pm, there is a piano concert by the monument of Fryderyk Chopin. Don’t miss this experience.

Wilanow Palace – 2 Hours

A weekend in Warsaw must include visiting Wilanów Palace! It’s the “Polish Versailles” – A baroque masterpiece. The castle was built by the Polish king back in the 17th century. Lavish interiors are filled with stunning artwork and fancy furniture.

And don’t forget to explore the awesome gardens surrounding the palace. Wilanow Palace is a must-see for its history and the beauty of it. Boulevards By The Vistula River – 1-2 hours
